Strategies to Help You Build Your Business


Just in case you are someone reading this and do not know my background. I am a 28 year entrepreneur and 18 year direct sales representative. I have tried my hands at many business ventures. It took me some time to figure out the fact that I needed to narrow down my ventures and marketing efforts to just a few. 

I'm a 28 year licensed master cosmetologist, 18 year Avon sales representative, and book publisher since 2007. Social media marketing, training, mentoring, biz building, and wealth building are things I am passionate about. Some would say that my family and I are very crafty since my mom is a 40 year entrepreneur and fashion expert. You may have guessed it. I can sew, craft, and create things too. I even have my own jewelry and fashion business. I don't even remember how many years I've dabbled with this since as young as a small child my siblings and I helped mom with her business.

In 28 years I've made some mistakes. I've learned from those mistakes. What I do know is that if it ain't broke don't try to fix it. It if's not working why waste time? Let me explain myself. Another thing I've learned through this journey is that numbers mean everything. I can't think of anyone in business that does not want to increase revenue. If you're a business owner that has been marketing and promoting your business for a long period of time with no financial gain, this may be a good time to analyze your marketing efforts. (analyze and document) It's one thing to have a social presence and another thing to actually be earning money from what you do. Branding is a key factor in building a business. I will never forget spending countless hours making my brand look good but noticing little financial gain. Don't get me wrong it takes time to build but spend just as must time on turning the lookers into paid clients. 

In terms of the efforts that aren't increasing numbers try changing your business strategies a bit or something totally different. The things that you notice are working for you, work on improving those. Regardless of what you do remember this old saying, by failing to plan, you plan to fail. Research how to create a marketing plan. Carefully think out and journal your ideas before executing them. Give it some time, you will see that the strategies to help you build your business will help you grow.

Get a Vertical Sign for Your Business


I am loving my new sign! Most of what I want people to know about joining my Avon team is on this sign. I love it beause it does the work for me without me having to say much. People read it then if they have additional questions, they ask. This year I plan on uping my recruiting game and this sign is the help I need. I have never been the type of direct sales person that enjoyed approaching strangers. This sign makes direct sales much easier.

Creating a sign on Vistaprint is pretty easy. There are two options. Business owners can upload their own designs and add their own information. They also have ready-made design templates that can be used. If a person is not too computer savvy, I suggest going with the ready-made designs then adding your own business name and contact information. Images like logos or headshots can also be added in desired areas.

I enjoy the fact that I received my sign in a timely manner. It is VERY easy to assemble and once I am finished with events, the sign rolls up and slides in a bag. It's that simple! I paid a little over $100 dollars but this was well worth it because if I take care of it well, it will last almost forever. The sign is made out of thick vinyl and is taller than me. (I'm 5 -2) There is an option to purchase the stand. I strongly suggest purchasing the stand because without it, you won't be able to stand your sign up. Market Your Business Free Using Nextdoor

Find out whose living in your neigborhood plus get the word out to your neighbors about your business. A few months ago, one of my neighbors told me about this social platform since I am fairly new to the neighborhood. I had never heard about it but once I started using the site, I am finding out that this could be great place to market my business. I am still learning about a lot of the features but I really love the fact that each neighboorhood has their own URL. I can search and find new neighbors to connect with. I have even added my business information to my profile. Users can add their street but block their actual home address. One thing I really love is the free classified ad area and the area where neighbors can post freebies, lost pets, resources events, & etc.. The site is so well organized that I am really enjoying it and learning new things about it everyday. I have even connected with a few new neighbors and joined our neighborhood association. So think about finding out whose in your neighborhood. I let the word out about my Avon business and posted a notation that says "Interested in Avon, I'll Be Glad to Drop a Brochure by Your Home" I always advise safety first so if there is any way possible that business owners can drop a brochure or business card by neighbors homes without knocking on doors or putting them directly in their mailbox which is against the law, think of a way to do so. I have tossed brochures in plastic bags on the front porch or lawn of potential clients homes.

How Can I Tell How Many Website Visits I Have?

In terms of marketing, this is something every business owner should want to know because numbers mean everything. Have you ever wondered if your marketing efforts are working? There are some that seem to feel when they create a website or blog that people will automatically visit their site. The truth is that unless you have a website that is search engine friendly, then you'll need to work on getting people to view your website. Search Engine Optimization also know as SEO is the term used to describe how well your site indexes on search engines. In other words when people search certain topics will Google and other search engines allow your site to rank on top? Ranking on top means that when they search a certain topic, they will see your site because keep in mind, there are tons of sites similar to yours. Did you know that Google wants your site created a certain way? Its true! When your site is properly indexed, they will allow more people to view your site. If you are wondering if they control how many people are viewing your website when your site topic is searched, then your answer is yes. This is something I want you to look into because I want to concentrate on what I know about analytics.

I know through my analytics that most of my sales and traffic is coming from facebook. What this tells me is that I need to spend more time on facebook and less time doing the other things that I've been doing to market. Why would I focus on the things that are not working that well?? The question to some is how can I use analytics to track my click rate. Quality VS. Quanity

There are entrepreneurs that try very hard to provide the most products or a long list of services but I believe that first impressions mean everything. I'd rather take the time to create products and services that are of excellent standards even if this means it takes me months. After all the reputation of my name and brand is very important.




As an author, I have many publications but after a few rewrites it took me a minute to realize people want only the best. For every idea that an entrepreneur has I am willing to bet that there is someone else out there with the same idea or an even better one. In other words, there is a lot of competition out there. If I don't provide something that is great, I am sure that clients will eventually find someone else that offers something better.

So ask yourself the question as you take a look at your entire business or brand as a whole - Do I offer products and services that meet the standards of something great or do I offer a lot of things that are just wasting space. Take a look at what you have to offer. This may mean that you should step up your branding. You may need to revamp your website or edit a book but do what ever it takes to provide something that is excellent. Remember that it doesn't matter how much you have to offer because some only have a couple of products but they are earning a killing. I would much rather be known as a best selling author instead of one that has 10 books that are not so appealing.

Today I want to share with all what I did to provide a better brand. I wiped out three of my videos that in my opinion were not great. I am in no way saying go and wipe out all of your hard work but take a look carefully and see if there is anything there that could be costing you clients.

How to Generate More Leads

Live by way of example. If people see your success, they will want a part of that too.  Its almost like trying to push people to do what you are not doing.  Think about anyone you know that needs a job or could use some extra income and share your success story with them. Give them a business card, take their number and ask them if they would like to hear more about the business. Don’t forget to follow-up! Ask them if they would like to attend your companies next meeting with you. In three days give them a call and ask them if they have any questions or concerns about the business. If they are not ready to join your team give them an extra card and ask them to give it to someone they know that could earn some extra income.  (don’t give up on them or be too pushy)  With consistency, soon you will be well on your way  to generating more leads.

Tips on How to Create a Website

The Difference in Free Websites and Paid Websites

If you are someone that is new to web building, then creating one can be a challenge. Today I want to share a few things that will help you create a website. There are free website creation tools and paid websites. I want to share what I know about creating free websites verses paid websites. Business owners are very limited with the free website as to what they can do. Most sites that allow people to build a free website will only allow business owners to use certain templates. If you build a website using the free tools, no support is available. This means if you have any questions or concerns, the site owners will not allow you to email them or contact them. Unless you're a person that purchases your own domain name (this is your website address) with the free site, you will also have the name of the website in your web address. For example. www.yourwebsite.wix.com. Wix is the name of the web builder site. 

Make Your Website Attractive

Here are a few other tips that will help you build a website. I can't mention the times that I have visited a website and the font size was so small that I could not read it. It you are wondering what size the font should be, then take a look at the size I am typing with right now. Lastly, make sure your background is not too dark.
